Personality, characteristics and temperament
Sweet and playful little puppies, that will be smaller than the average Oodle or Poodle x. Friendly and fun-loving little characters, these puppies are intelligent with personality plus. Loyal and devoted, known to be cautious around strangers. Fantastic and amusing with their own family, they enjoy a cuddle on the lounge at the end of the day. Great little companion dogs. Make great family pets, and love to seek attention.
Grooming your Poochi
The amount of grooming required for a puppy will depend on the type of coat. All coat types will require some grooming with the non-shedding Poodle x also needing to be clipped as the fur does not fall out. Those dogs with poodle like coats will need to be brushed more often than dogs with Chihuahua like hair. Poodle x Chihuahuas, with floppy Poodle ears, need to have their ears properly dried after their bath to avoid infections.
Training your Poochi
Very intelligent dogs, this makes them easy to train. Can be stubborn at times, be sure to be assertive – yet calm and gentle with your training methods. Positive reinforcement is key, these little dogs are incredibly eager to please their owner and love praise. Teach your puppy the pecking order and hierarchy of your home from day one! This will see you and your pooch go far, you will be as proud and happy with your dog, as your dog is with you.
Socialising from a young age is also important, to avoid possessiveness. Puppy preschool is highly recommended, as this is a safe environment for your puppy to interact with other young puppies in a safe environemnt (sterilised waiting room of our vet clinic, where all other class participants have had at least their first vaccination.
