What is a 'Tibby Pug'?
The Tibby Pug is a mixed breed dog, the cross of the Tibetan Spaniel and the Pug. Both are small breed companion dogs, who are charismatic, affectionate and social. We find these two dogs to be highly compatible, and they compliment each other well. With the roots of both the Tibetan Spaniel and the Pug, dating back to China over 2,500 years ago - these dogs have long been highly regarded.
These days, the Tibetan Spaniels and the Pugs, are predominately bred for companions - where they truly succeed in their purpose.
The Tibetan Spaniels are a sweet, cheerful and quiet little dog - who is independent and happy to keep themselves entertained, as they are to sit by your feet and please you, with their wagging and plumed tails. A gentle and friendly little dog, with a shorter leg and longer body than the Pug (though not as extreme as the Dachshund or Pekingese in their physical traits) they have a long silky coat, which can be maintained by combing at home.
The Pugs are a confident, outgoing and highly sociable breed - though can be somewhat stubborn at times - crossing them with the Tibetan Spaniel, who is quite eager to please, we hope to reduce the stubborn streak seen in some Pugs. Affectionate and loyal, the Pug is a bright and alert little dog, who will bring joy to their owners - young or old. The Pug has a short, thick double coat - that will shed, however will not require regular trips to the groomers, or clipping. The occasional bath and brush at home, will suffice in maintaining their coat. The Tibby Pug often has less exaggerated features than that of the pure bred Pug.
The mix of the Tibby Pug, is that of a happy, friendly and affectionate dog - who makes the perfect family pet and side kick. The coat will vary, and appearance may somewhat vary too - however the Tibby Pug, tend to maintain their affectionate nature, and are very much people dogs. They like to engage with humans, and be involved in family time and activities.
See below, for images of the Pug and Tibetan Spaniel as pure bred dogs - the cross of the two may resemble either one, or any combination of the two breeds.
