A bit about the Puggle
Puggles are a cross between the Pug and the Beagle, making an adaptable dog and great family pet. The Puggle is a fun loving and easy going companion dog, that enjoys being by the side of their family. The Puggle is just as happy running along the beach and playing in the sand and the surf, as they are laying at home and snoring on the lounge watching TV! Puggles are funny little characters, and always provide plenty of entertainment and laughter.
The Pug is a great companion dog but does not have the ability to endure everything their own does, due to their short-squishy-nose and compact and cobby body. The Beagle is an outgoing dog, but can be very independent and driven by their instinct to follow scent. The cross between the two provides benefits from both the Pug and the Beagle, but we find the combination of the two, to create a nice middle ground. The Beagle blood allows for the dog to go further distances on walks, yet are more interested in what their owner is up to, than where their noses can take them!
Puggles can suit most living situations if you can provide for them, from apartment living to country side properties. Happiest by your side, the Puggle is pretty easy to please.
Grooming
Grooming will depend on the coat type of your Puggle, those with a short Pug like coat will require an occasional wipe over with a damp cloth. Those with the longer Cavalier coat will require a weekly brush or comb. Do not bathe either coat type more frequently than once a month, this can dry out natural bodily oils and cause skin irritations.
Training
Laid back and easy to please, makes training a breeze! Though most are food driven, positive reinforcement is also key when it comes to successful training. Willing to learn, keep training to short and consistent sessions to maintain focus.
